Dummy load method
When repairing 100w power supply, in order to determine whether the fault is in the load circuit or the power supply itself, it is often necessary to disconnect the load and add a dummy load to the 5v 20a smps output end (usually 12V) for testing. The reason for choosing a dummy load is that during the cut-off period of the switch tube, the energy stored in the primary winding of the switch transformer must be released to the secondary. If the dummy load is not connected, the energy stored in the switch transformer has nowhere to be released, which can easily cause the switch tube to break down and be damaged.
